ALWAYS, ALREADY

VFX for a Short Film

A short film made by Roni Weiner about the experience of army training. The film features two main VFX scenes, both take place in a shooting range, therefore, most of the VFX work on the film was on and around shooting.

The Shooting Scene

In this scene, several soldiers shoot during a range, while the main character, Yirmi, fails to pull the trigger.

In the scene, we tried to create a contrast between the soldiers' shots and Yirmi's immobility and staticity, to emphasize his inner feelings and the position he is in.

To do this we chose to use strong muzzle flashes, in addition to dust and debris from the bullets' hits.

Yirmi's Shooting Scene

In this scene, Yirmi is persuaded to shoot and manages to fire at the range, but the situation is still a difficult situation for him.

The shot is a close-up shot on Yirmi's face, the emphasis, once again, is on Yirmi; his feelings, and the thoughts that go through his head.

Here, too, powerful shots highlight what Yirmi is going through, this time it's an emotional storm.
